We held our final Departing Missionary Fireside on Sunday, June 24, 2012.
Each day this week has been the Final Something and it is very bitter-sweet.
I remember the first time we attended a Departing Fireside. We had only
been in the mission 1 week. The Assistants told us we had this fireside.
I expected a few people in the chapel. What a surprise.
The room was filled to the back of the gym.
What a tribute to our wonderful missionaries here.
The members, converts, investigators all love these precious
servants of our Heavenly Father. And they show
this love by coming to hear their testimonies as they
depart for home.
Every six weeks they have continued to show their love and
fill the chapel and gym.
Tonights Fireside was wonderful.
We had 9 returning missionaries:
Sisters Olsen, Moya, and Newman.
Elders West, Horton, Lafeen, Tacaki, Liew, Naylor.
They all shared beautiful and powerful testimonies of the Savior, their love for Him and
His work, the atonement, and the sacred place of DC South.
They invited investigators to come unto Christ.
It was beautiful.
Dave and Angie Gretz shared their testimonies also.
They are a wonderful couple, who were baptized with their children and then attended
the temple a year later. They now hold callings of RS counselor and YM leader.
They are what missionary work is all about.
