A BLESSING OF COMFORT

Dear President,

Everything is nice and cold up here in Reston and Herndon, but we are working hard and enjoying it. We had a WONDERFUL week this last week, and we were able to reach the standard.

We had a miracle happen on Thursday. We had a great night planned out to go with our ward mission leader, who is a very spiritual man. Well, two hours before, everything canceled. We were disappointed and called our ward mission leader up to change plans. He said we should still meet up anyway and try to find something to do to bless someone’s life. Well, right as we pulled up to meet him, we received a phone call from a member with some problems that she needed help with. We jumped in our WML’s car and went there. It was a single sister who was having a hard time with her job, selling her house, and on top of that, her dad had just left her mom. She was pretty distraught. Well, the scripture from Liberty Jail in D&C 121 came to my mind so I shared that with her. She really took comfort in that, and then our ward mission leader just brought down the angels from heaven and spoke through the spirit. It was super powerful great. We ended up giving her a blessing and she felt a lot better. The blessing was beautiful. Well, right as we were about to leave, her mom came home, and she was distraught as well. So we started all over again! We shared some testimony of hard times and to learn from our mistakes. We then asked if she wanted a blessing also and she chose me, and I felt honored. As I put my hands on her head, the words just flowed. It was such a beautiful blessing. I felt so blessed to be an instrument in the Lord’s hands. What a great night. Even when we think the night is going bad, the Lord will always put us where we need to be. What a blessing. Thanks,

Elder Hancock
