HARPER'S FERRY -WHERE 2 RIVERS MEET

HARPER'S FERRY is only a short drive from the mission.  This lovely little town is situated
on a low lying flood plain with a little hill in the middle right where the Potomac and Shenandoah
Rivers come together and form one river.
It is also the home of the famous, John Brown's Raid on the armory in 1859.  This raid was one of the first events of the Civil War. He planned to arm the slaves with guns, but the attack failed and he was captured and executed.
This small town has withstood not only the ravages of war, but many floods. Harper's Ferry still lives on- a quaint and lovely little town.

the town is made to look authentic to the time period of the war and has many museums and sites to visit and learn about the history

A museum about the armory and the rifles and guns made here.

WHERE TWO MIGHTY RIVERS MEET

THE RACE WAS BETWEEN THE RAIL AND THE CANAL.

BEAUTIFUL CHURCH THAT SITS AT THE TOP OF THE TOWN. IT WAS DESTROYED AND REBUILT AFTER THE WAR
